Satellite Broadband Internet Access
In fact in US over 30 million people
still can’t receive high speed Internet access. The costs of setting
up DSL or cable access throughout the countries each home are in the
billions of dollars. Satellite broadband internet is only feasible option
today for localities where DSL or Cable is not penetrable due to
technological constraints or companies are unable to receive either
of those services because they are outside of the nearest provider's
coverage area. Internet via satellite allows virtually everyone
to access fast broadband Internet anywhere.
If you are new to satellite broadband internet, then you probably
ask yourself this question, “How Does Satellite Broadband Internet
Works?” Satellite internet works through modems and satellite dishes
similar to that of a satellite television. Broadband Satellite is
technically a type of broadband Internet connection, even though
it’s very different than either DSL or cable. Like all Internet
connections, satellite broadband starts with a provider. When you
sent or receive data or information through your home or office
computer, signals are sent to orbiting satellite through to special
satellite modem to a satellite dish, which is installed on the roof
of the subscriber’s office or house. When data is requested or sent,
it is sent to the satellite, which acts as a middle-man between you
and internet provider. I.e., in order to send or receive data
through the satellite, you must first have a satellite dish on the
outside of your home or office building. It is through satellite
dish
that all information is transferred.
There are three main types of satellite broadband connections.
One way satellite connection, Two way satellite internet, Combined
ISDN/satellite. One way satellite connection type utilises the
satellite connection for downloads and a dial-up connection over
your telephone line for uploads. Combined ISDN/satellite type
utilises the satellite connection for downloads and an ISDN
connection over a telephone line for uploads. Two way satellite
internet is
the perfect solution if you are unable to receive broadband services
via telephone or cable services. This connection use satellite
connection for both downloads and uploads so high speeds can be used
in both directions and requires a different type of satellite dish
from the two previously mentioned plans. While all use a satellite
dish for downstream.
One of the most important parts of establishing satellite internet
is that the dish needs to have a clear view to the south. This is
where the satellites are located and any obstruction could hinder
the ability to send and receive signals which would interrupt the
internet connection. It is extremely important that there are no
trees or other obstructions in the way. What happens if there is
something in the way is that the connection can not remain steady
and the internet speeds will slow down or the internet connection
will cease to work at all. It is exactly like a satellite television
system and obstructions are one of the most common issues with
satellite internet connections. Despite these inconveniences, there
are things you can do to help your satellite Internet connection
along. For example, you can purchase a signal amplifier to help make
the connection stronger and more resistant to outside disturbances.
Also available are signal locators, which help find the signal for
the times when getting a connection is difficult.
